Considered as one of the greatest skateboarders of all time and recognized by the world, Tony Hawk remembered the first time he heard a song from Nirvanalegendary American rock band formed by Kurt CobainKrist Novoselic and Dave Grohl.
During participation in the TV program My Generationproduced by the channel NBC, Hawk talked about the beginning of the 1990s, when he was introduced to a newly released single by a band previously unknown to the public.
“Actually, I was in New York interviewing a band for Thrasher Magazine,” he stated (via People). “Someone at the record company said, ‘Hey, we’ve got this new Nirvana’ and played it in the room.” The song in question was the hit “Smells Like Teen Spirit,” present on the studio album Nevermind (1991).
Everyone stopped what they were doing and looked around. And you just knew. You knew this was it.
