Liam Payne, former member of One Direction, is found dead in Buenos Aires

Singer Liam Payne, 31, who was once part of the boy band One Direction, died this Wednesday, October 16, after falling from the hotel where he was staying in Buenos Aires.

According to local press reports, the police were called to the hotel to detain “an aggressive man” who may be under the “influence of drugs or alcohol”.

Photos circulating on social media show the room where Payne was staying with packets of drugs, straws, lighters and a destroyed television. Police have already confirmed the death.

Born on August 29, 1993 in Wolverhampton, England, Payne began his musical career by participating in the talent competition The Direction together with Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan. The group quickly became a global phenomenon, releasing five studio albums and amassing millions of fans around the world.

After One Direction’s hiatus in 2016, Liam embarked on a solo career, exploring new musical styles. In 2017 he released his first solo single, “Strip That Down”, featuring rapper Quavo and achieved commercial success, reaching good positions in the international charts.
