A Los Angeles producer has filed a lawsuit against Kanye West alleging that the rapper didn’t pay for his services at various events.
Kayne West is being sued for $7.1 million by a Los Angeles, Calif., production company, who accused him of failing to pay fees after canceling a series of events, such as the audition for Donda 2presentation at Coachella 2022and the show Free Larry Hoover with Drakeaccording to Variety.
Phantom Labs, the company that worked on the latest West, alleges that when unpaid bills started piling up, he made sure everything would be paid as soon as he received the $9 million fee for appearing on the show. Coachella.
However, when the rapper pulled out of the festival show weeks before it was due to take place, the company claimed that he should pay not only for previous collaborations, but also for the vendors that were paid before canceling the performance at the festival. Coachella.
west reportedly hired Phantom Labs in 2021 to “run a renovation project” on a warehouse that would be turned into an office and creative space. The rapper also reportedly hired the company to produce four Sunday Service events that year. Now, Phantom Labs claims it has not received payment for any projects.
The company would also be involved in the hearing of Donda 2by which west would owe US$ 2.2 million. Furthermore, he alleges that he received a fine of $1 million when the rapper canceled the concert at the Coachella in early April this year.
“We are incredibly proud of the work we have done with Yes [nome de West] and disappointed that such a fruitful relationship has come to this,” a Phantom Labs spokesperson said in a statement (via Variety). “A celebrity creating fame and reputation to take advantage of eager collaborators is simply unacceptable.”
