Jay-Z’s last solo work was released in 2017 – and there’s no forecast for the next album
Jay-Z ruled out rap retirement and stated how he is still open to releasing new music in the future. It is worth remembering how 4:44the iconic rapper’s latest solo album, was released in 2017.
During an interview with the actor and comedian Kevin Hart on the talk show Hart To Heartoriginal streaming production Peacock, the rapper opened up about his future plans. one year after 4:44, Jay-Z released the album Everything Is Lovein partnership with his wife and also a singer, Beyonce.
“I don’t know what happens next. I’m not actively making music, making an album or having plans to make a record,” revealed the rapper. “But I never want to say how I’m retired… it’s a gift, and who am I to end it? It’s open to everything. Maybe it’s not an album, maybe it is. No idea, but I’ll leave it open.”
Jay-Z has retired before
In 2003, Jay-Z announced retirement in after the release of The Black Albumbut released the disc Kingdom Come just three years later. In the conversation, the singer reflected on this decision: “I was really exhausted at that time. I released an album every year – 1996, 1997 and 1998. And in between, soundtracks, other people’s LPs, [gravadora] Roc-A-Fella Recordsconsecutive tours…”
And you know, I looked up one day and I was like, ‘I’m tired. And I was really exhausted at that point.’

Grammys 2022: Jay-Z becomes most nominated artist in history
Jay-Z became the most nominated artist in the history of the Grammy Awards. This Tuesday, the 23rd, the Recording Academy revealed the nominees of the 64th edition of the awards and announced the name of the rapper three times throughout the categories. (Via Variety)
Jay-Z competes for Album of the Year for participating in Donda (2021), from Kanye Westcurrently known as Yes. Additionally, the musician competes for Best Rap Song for the tracks “bath salts,” in DMXand “jail,” in Kanye West.
So, Jay-Z amassed 83 Grammy nominations and surpassed Quincy Jones, which has 80 nominations. The rapper first competed for the awards in 1998 and since then has a staggering 23 wins.
In the ranking of artists with the most Grammy nominations, Jay-Z is also in front of the ex-Beatles Paul McCartney (81), the wife herself Beyonce (80), Stevie Wonder and Georg Solti, both with 74 nominations.
