Bruno Mars could become an honorary citizen of Brazil

The MP’s proposal aims to recognize the contribution of the singer, who has been performing in the country for almost a month

Federal deputy Reginaldo Veras (PV) has presented a proposal to the Chamber of Deputies to grant the title of honorary Brazilian citizen to the 39-year-old American singer Bruno Mars. Veras highlighted the artist’s “love” for Brazil, highlighting his supportive attitude during the charity show for flood victims in Rio Grande do Sul. According to the parliamentarian, “by granting Bruno Mars the title of honorary citizen, we not only recognize this artistic excellence, but also his ability to promote unity and joy among Brazilians.”

Tour in Brazil and connection with the public

The singer is engaged in a long tour in Brazil, which lasted almost a month. There are 15 presentations planned in five capitals. The series of shows also includes two shows scheduled this weekend (26th and 27th), at the BRB Mané Garrincha Arena, in Brasilia.

Symbolic recognition

The title of honorary citizen is a symbolic honor granted by Congress, without implying rights or obligations for those who receive it, but which expresses public recognition of the honoree’s connection with Brazil. British driver Lewis Hamilton, for example, was awarded the same honor in recognition of his declared affection for the country.
