In an exclusive interview with Variety, Olivia Rodrigo shared her thoughts on her new film, *Olivia Rodrigo: Guts World Tour*, premiering on Netflix. The film is a celebration of the tour that made Rodrigo a force in contemporary rock, highlighting his talent and energy.
At 21, the artist talks about the importance of keeping rock at the forefront, as well as bringing women to the center of the music scene.
“From the beginning I always wanted the film to be on Netflix. I was excited that people who couldn’t get tickets could see the show“, said Rodrigo, underlining the accessibility offered by the platform. “My dream has always been that as many people as possible could see That.”
Watching the film for the first time, Rodrigo was surprised by his own reactions. “It was interesting to see the show from a new perspective. I try not to be self-critical, but I noticed moments when I was more nervous than others”he commented.
She acknowledges that her nervousness shows up when playing the piano, something that still leaves her feeling insecure, even after so many performances. “I feel like if I miss a note, it becomes more noticeable. But other than that, it was fun to watch,” he added.
Olivia Rodrigo: female power and collaborations on stage
Rodrigo also highlighted the female presence in his show, citing Chappell Roan as one of the most significant collaborators. “Having women on tour, both as musicians and dancers, it’s very important to me“he said.
Roan not only opened the shows, but also joined Rodrigo for a duet, representing the strength of women in music. “I believe it is critical to create a space where women can shine and support each other.”
The singer revealed that she is taking some time to recover and get inspired before working on her next musical project. “I’m tired after this tour and excited to take a break AND gather inspiration. I don’t want to put pressure on myself right now, but I’m always coming up with ideas,” he said, keeping fans excited for his musical future.
With the movie Courageous world tour Set to make her debut, Olivia Rodrigo not only reaffirms her position in rock, but also promotes a powerful message about female collaboration and overcoming personal and professional challenges.
