In a new interview, Ariana Grande revealed plans for her future career. The artist said that, in the next 10 years, she should focus on acting, leaving her work focused on pop music a little aside.
The singer and star of Wicked— which hits Brazilian cinemas on November 21st — visited the podcast Las Culturistas this Wednesday (06/11), where he said that participating in the film adaptation of the musical Broadway rekindled his love for acting.
I’m going to say something so scary, it’s going to completely scare everyone, including my fans. I love them, and they will deal with it, and we will be here forever. I will always make music. I will always go on stage. I’ll always do pop stuff, I pinky promise. But I don’t think doing it at the same frequency as the last decade is where I see myself in the next 10 years.”
The artist continued:
I think I love acting; I love musical theater. Reconnecting with that part of me… I love comedy, and it heals me to do that — to find roles to use those parts of myself.”
Before his musical career, Ariana Grande appeared in the musical 13from 2012, and starred in the series NickelodeonVictorious and Sam & Cat.
However, after the release of their debut album Yours Truly (2013), the singer released a sequence of six albums over a period of seven years, a pace that made it impossible to balance both careers.
During that time, Ariana Grande had only one role in a feature film, playing herself in the apocalyptic comedy Don’t Look Up.
Earlier this year, she released Eternal Sunshineher first album since 2020. The four-year gap between albums more than doubled the singer’s previous breaks between releases. And after this revelation, these hiatuses should be more common from now on.
