In July 2024, Planet Hemp and special guests reunited at Espaço Unimed in one of the biggest shows in the history of the rap rock band
One of the most important bands of Brazilian rap rock, The hemp planet officially launched (via Free sound AND Elemes), last Wednesday evening, the 6th, the album Based on true events: 30 years of smokingrecorded at the group’s historic show, formed by Marcelo D2, B Negao, Nobru Pederneiras, Pedrinho AND AntIn Unified Space.
The presentation in question, which took place in July 2024, saw several participations from important artists for the The hemp planet over the years: Black alien, Your Jorge, Murder, Sin, Creole, BaianaSystem, Major RD, Rodrigo Lima (Dead fish), The Mercenaries, Mike Muir (Suicidal tendencies), Kamau AND DJ Zegon.
With 26 tracks in total, 30 years of smoking covers the group’s entire discography and is available on all digital platforms, with production by Daniele Ganjaman and mixtures of Pedro Garcia. In a press release, D2 talked about the band’s new project.
“This live album is more than a celebration, it’s a reaffirmation of everything we’ve stood for since the beginning,” he said. “Every track and participation carries a piece of this story, and to listen to it live, with the energy of the audience, is to remember why we started. 30 years have passed and the flame has not gone out, nor will it go out.”
Furthermore, B Negao analyzed the band’s impact over the years and generations. “There’s something amazing about getting on stage and seeing a new audience singing along with as much excitement as those who were there in the beginning,” he said. “This live album is a testament to this energy, to our connection with the audience and to a history that has not been lost over time, on the contrary: it has only grown stronger.”
30 years have passed, but the sound pressure is the same: Planet Hemp has never been just music; It is an idea, a message that has never stopped being current.
