A song from Tenacious DAmerican comedy rock band formed by Jack Black and Kyle Gasslaunched in 2001 leaves Steve-Oknown as one of the members of the jackass“upset” and “offended” to this day.
It’s worth remembering how the song in question is “Dio,” present on the group’s self-titled studio album, released on September 25, 2001, which talks about the singer Ronnie James Dio. “It’s time to pass the torch / You’re too old to rock / No more rock for you / We’re taking you home / But we’re going to sing a song about you,” says the lyrics.
Diowho died on May 16, 2010 due to stomach cancer, was known for participating in bands such as Black Sabbath and Rainbow and even participated in Tenacious D – A Hellish Duofilm directed by Liam Lynch released on November 22, 2006 in theaters in the United States. Additionally, the artist sings in “Kickapoo,” the film’s opening song.
In a podcast episode Steve-O’s Wild Ride!, Steve-O revealed his reservations with the song to this day. “I’m very upset about the song by Jack Black on Dio. I just felt very offended. I mean, it’s ironic, sure, it’s comedy, but don’t take my Ronnie James Dio for granted,” he said.
