NOIZE Record Club, the largest vinyl club in Latin America, has prepared a special kit for subscribers: the album PINKfirst of Samuel Rosa in a solo career.
In addition to the disc with translucent vinyl, subscribers will also receive the magazine NOIZE #155, which provides details about the creation of the work.
PINK was selected as one of the 25 best national albums according to APCA (São Paulo Association of Art Critics), and was nominated for Album of the Year at the Multishow Award. With 10 songs, the record brings the renowned language of Samuelnow in an even more intimate version.
In the album, the artist reflects on issues such as maturity, relationships and fatherhood. “You go one way, I go the other / Everything’s fine, carry on with the game”, he sings in “Follow the Game”a composition released as a single in the first half of 2024.
The unmistakable voice of Samuel Rosa marked different generations of Brazilian music lovers in songs that helped define the sound of national pop rock. The new work continues the legacy built with Skankbut proposes new nuances and contours in the sound influenced by reggae, brit pop and bossa nova.
For this new stage, the musician counted on the co-production of Renato Cipriano and the team made up of Rolim Dock on guitar, Alexandre Mourão at the bottom, Peter Kremer on keyboards and Marcelo Dai on drums and percussion. The cover is signed by the artist Stephan Doitschinoff.
“Old school” opinion on the music market
In an interview with Rolling Stone Brazil in August 2024, Samuel Rosa talked about the work and shared an “old school” opinion about the current music market.
I’m still not convinced that releasing singles periodically is the best format, the best way to conduct your discography”, he said when justifying the choice to release a full album.
The artist also explained that the launch of Pink meets a personal demand:
Skank, in recent years, has only been about reinterpretations. I had this creative energy bottled up.”
Samuel Rosa He also revealed that he wrote 20 songs, but decided to only include 10 on the album so the work wouldn’t be too big. The other tracks are expected to be released on a new album in the coming years.
