Waiting for the return of LinkinPark in Brazil it was distressing. In the seven years that separate the Californian group’s last performance from their return to Sao Paulo this November 15, fans have experienced a period of mourning and uncertainty following the death of Chester Benningtonin 2017, which could end the band. In the first of two shows at Allianz Parque, Chester was missing, but that didn’t stop his teammates from putting on a powerful show.

From the first chords of somewhere I Belongthe song that opened this Friday’s performance, Linkin Park showed enormous comfort with their new lineup. Now with Emily Armstrong accompaniment Mike Shinoda As for the vocals, the band seems to have been performing in this lineup for years and the new singer takes up the lyrics previously sung by Bennington with authority.

Although his most successful songs come from his first three studio albums, the Linkin Park knew how to put together a setlist which spanned all phases of the band. Dividing the presentation into three acts plus an encore, the group recorded hits such as Weak AND In the end to conclude, putting together a repertoire made to please different generations, who sang classics such as with the same enthusiasm One step closer and more electronic songs like Waiting for the end.

While Armstrong didn’t shy away from recreating Bennington’s screams, it’s in the band’s new songs that the singer really showed what she came for. Released this Friday morning, the album From scratch is full of songs that test the singer’s range, with Victim AND Two Faces exciting both live and with songs from over twenty years ago.

Risking a “thank you” here and there, Shinoda needed to do little to leave the audience enthralled. Completely thrilled, the people at Allianz Parque reacted with passionate applause and screams after every second of the band’s silence, putting on a show that left the Linkin Park leader clearly satisfied.

Not surprisingly, Linkin Park have already announced a return to Brazil in 2025. With a loyal audience in the country, the band knows they will be welcomed with open arms and excited voices by fans, no matter how many years pass between performances.

If some songs are not so exciting in their studio version, it must be said that, live, Linkin Park can be brilliant. Transforming even mediocre songs like Lost with a sing-along anthem, the band justified the frantic search for tickets that sold out the space at Allianz Parque.

Not even when Bleed ita song that had been closing the band’s shows for years started playing and the audience looked tired. Despite more than two hours of performance, the feeling remains that both fans and the group can continue singing into the night.

In an epic night destined to excite the most devoted and conquer the most cynical, the band concluded this first performance at Allianz Parque leaving a clear message: Linkin Park, in fact, is back.
