The singer Ed Motta published an apology this Wednesday 20th, after an episode of disagreement with a roadie, a professional who collaborates with artists and bands to provide technical support, during a performance at the Rock The Mountain festival, in Petropolisin Rio de Janeiro. The incident occurred last Sunday, the 17th.

In a note published on the artist’s official Instagram profile, the singer’s team stated that, at the beginning of the show, “Ed noticed several errors in the positioning of the furniture which seriously compromised his presentation and his movement on stage” . According to the statement, the artist also faced technical problems during the performance.

“Faced with this situation and under severe stress, Ed spoke inappropriately with one of the team’s roadies, as shown in the video broadcast since then on several media outlets,” the statement read. The professional also worked “satisfactorily” in a show of the singer held on the 10th.

The statement further states that “Ed immediately recognized that his attitude towards the professional in question was excessive and driven solely by emotion.” He reportedly apologized in the second half of the show and later apologized to the roadie. The singer also expressed his desire for the professional to remain part of his team.

“Technical and communication adjustments will be made privately, between the team and the artist, as has always been done, with respect and clarity,” the statement continues. Finally, the note expressed Ed’s apologies to those in attendance at the show, fans, and his team. Read all:

Remember the case

Ed Motta performed at Rock The Mountain last Sunday. A video circulating on social media shows the singer having a disagreement with the roadie before and after the show.

The recording begins with Motta sitting at the keyboard, as he turns to the as-yet-unidentified professional and says into the microphone: “Any roadie knows this. You’re out, man. I said you’d stay.” , but it’s the last show you do.” The audience seemed disinterested in the presentation.

Then Motta starts playing a song accompanied by his band. It seems to still have some technical problems. Motta looks to the side and sees the roadie moving across the stage. Once he took out the microphone, he shouted at the professional: “Son of a bitch! F***!”.

The roadie then tries to get close to the singer. That’s when Motta screams, making a gesture to avoid approaching. “No! Get away, get away!”

The public, noticing Motta’s attitude, begins to boo him and send him a negative signal, disapproving of the artist’s behavior.

Passionate about everyday life, Motta has already been involved in other controversies. In June, he called hip-hop fans “stupid.” Shortly after, he went back. He posted a video apologizing. “Who has never made a mistake?” he asked himself.

In an interview with Estadao in October 2023 Motta classified the controversy as “buzz” and says its humor is “caustic, acidic and cynical”. He also said that not everything he says in his life is necessarily true.
