The documentary Beatles ’64directed by David Tedeschi and produced by Martin Scorseseis now available in the catalog Disney+. The production revisits the Liverpool quartet’s impact on American culture during their first visit to the United States in February 1964.
The film combines rare footage from the era, restored in 4K, with live performances from shows such as The Ed Sullivan Show and at the Beatles’ first American show, in Washington. It also features never-before-seen interviews from Paul McCartney and Ringo Starrexploring the period that marked the beginning of Beatlemania in the United States.
A historic landmark
The Beatles’ arrival in New York on February 7, 1964, attracted thousands of fans to the airport and culminated in their historic appearance on the show. The Ed Sullivan Showwatched by more than 70 million people. This moment, considered a watershed for pop music, is the central focus of Beatles ’64.
