Band confirmed first dates of what should be their last world tour; One-off shows should continue to take place in the following years

A curious phenomenon has become relatively common in classic rock: bands that announce their farewell, complete with a final tour… and reunite some time later. Kiss, Judas Priest, Scorpions and Motley Crue are some of the most notorious examples. Aware of such pioneers, the Uriah Heep decided to cut corners.

The legendary hard rock band created in 1969 confirmed that it will begin its last world tour next year — including a series of shows already confirmed in Brazil. However, they will not retire.

On two separate occasions, guitarist and only remaining founding member, Mick Boxsaid that the group should just stop doing world tours. Live performances will continue to be performed, albeit at a slower pace and on special occasions.

He, who forms the band alongside Bernie Shaw (voice), Dave Rimmer (low), Russell Gilbrook (battery) and Phil Lanzon (keyboards), said in a statement (via Igor Miranda website):

“Unfortunately, we have made the decision to end world tours next year under the title of ‘The Magician’s Farewell’. Over the next two to three years, we plan to play as many places as possible and see you all one last time. We will continue to play shows, but they will be limited to festivals, weekends and things like that. But tour dates will be announced from February 2025. So we hope to see you all there.”

In an interview with Planet Rock (via Blabbermouth), more details were shared by Box. The guitarist does not even mention his age — 77 years old — as an impediment. He states:

“The tour will take between two and three years. When we complete it, we will still do festivals and weekend shows, but no longer long tours. I don’t think it’s logistically possible right now. Bus prices have tripled. We took 11 flights last month and five of them were cancelled. It’s getting really hard to make these things work.”

Also during the interview, Mick revealed that he and his colleagues are expected to compose and record new material soon. It is also a demonstration that they should not stop completely.
