There are huge spoilers for Ms. Marvel’s season finale, “Not Normal,” so read on at your own risk!
The season finale of Ms. Tremendous it’s there and back, but fans are still raving about it. The eventful episode saw Iman Vellani’s Kamala Khan finally solidify as a superhero by tackling seedy damage control. He also risked his life to save the new super powerful Kamran. Of course, many are still reeling from the groundbreaking revelation that has been released in the last few minutes. But what was it like for the series’ lead writer, Bisha K. Ali, and her team learning for themselves? Well, the producer shed some light on that and if she was personally interested in embodying that aspect of Kamala’s journey.
In the last moments of Mrs. WonderIn episode six, the teenage heroine is reunited with her friends Nakia and Bruno for a night out. The latter then told Kamala that while she was researching her older brother, Aamir, he had discovered something about her physiology of hers. Interestingly, her DNA is different from that of her relatives, due to what Bruno calls a “mutation”. That term alone was enough to get fans excited, but many likely missed it when a snippet of the classic x men music theme played at that time. (Interestingly, one of Iman Vellani’s favorite Kamala moments involve Wolverine .)
Bisha K. Ali teased this important revelation when we spoke on the night of the Disney + show, where she also discussed prepare Kamala Khan for wonders . From the very end, she explained that the idea that Khan was a mutant was not something she and her team had always planned out. So when I talked to her about the post-final show, she was curious when the creative decision came into play and who made it. I mean, would Marvel Studios be the boss of the big boss? Kevin Feige (who had development notes) reveal such a thing personally? It turns out that wasn’t the case but, as Ali revealed, he found out about the revelation from someone else, someone who knows the character quite well:
you know, healthy [Amanat] he really was our manager [producer] on this show, and it came after our scripts were written … more or less well, the first scripts, kind of like “Yeah, that’s what the show” had been written. And after that she was a great creative partner. And I’m so happy to have it, and it really has been the communication vehicle for us on these things.
It is fitting that the writer / producer heard of the EP Sana Amanat, as he co-created the character of Ms. Marvel in 2013. According to the lead writer, Amanat served as a good channel between the people working on the series. and above. studio ops The development of the mutants was definitely a surprise to her, especially as she wasn’t too focused on the bigger things happening in the cinematic universe:
For me, it’s always about why this character is going through? And I’m so focused on Kamala’s bow and how we built it. And the kind of connectivity with those [larger MCU] coins and things that are frankly above my salary, these things come from above and change as they go. So yeah, it really depends on the team there. [at Marvel Studios] and helped us know where we were with our process. But it was really a big surprise for me to find that we can do it like anyone else.
The The final big reveal could definitely (and should) change the MCU entering Phase 5. This also reinforces the idea that Kamala Khan’s role will expand even after her appearance in the captain wonder continued next year. But if the character ends up joining the X-Men and other mutants, it’s natural to wonder if Bisha K. Ali would be interested in taking on such a project. When I asked her, she provided some honest thoughts on her perspective as she pondered her journey to Marvel:
For me, when I look back on my time at Marvel, the last two shows, and what an amazing experience it was for me, Bisha, as an individual. … What a chapter in my life this has been personally as creative and as someone who loves this world. But with Kamala’s story in particular, it has been very specific and very personal to me, the journey she takes, and it’s a complete story, as if it takes her from the starting point to the end. It’s a very complete story for me, personally. I don’t mean a little, necessarily in the MCU. I have no idea what happens to him in the MCU. So to me, I feel like it’s my heart. When viewers look at this, they really see my heart in a way, and I’m someone who[‘s] something like: “Ok, I wrapped it in a bow, and that’s what I wanted to create”. … It was the story that burned me. And for me moving forward, I think maybe it’s time for me to move forward.
In addition to this show, the writer / producer also worked Loki As a writer and editor, in recent years she has immersed herself in the world of superheroes. You can understand why she would be willing to move on. Discussing the topic, she went on to explain what she would like to happen behind the scenes:
For example, would I like to be involved in some way? Sure sure. But as for being the lead writer of a Kamala story again … I don’t know if that’s something I like. [eager to do]I mean, my answer might change next week, who knows? [Laughs] But right now I think the other thing that’s so exciting about the show, both in terms of the process and the story and characters, has a lot to do with the community, and behind the scenes, a community of amazing creatives and artists. . they teamed up to make the show and I’d really like to see what all these creatives do with their story in the future. So for me, I think it’s really time to move on [the baton]. This is the story I wanted to tell, 100%, and I think it’s all for me, I think.
Better to go up, right? I’m sure the company can find other talented creatives to expand Kamala’s mutant legacy. (The directors of the series Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah in fact presented X-Men as a possible Marvel concert for them). However, thanks to his great work on the show, I’d love to see Bisha K. Ali return to Marvel Studios at some point.
