Known for his jokes, Blink-182’s singer and guitarist changes his tone when addressing a specific subject

In addition to dedicating himself to Blink-182, Tom DeLonge He is a student of ufology and conspiracy theories in general. The vocalist and guitarist founded a company to deal with the issues and has been producing material on the subject since 2017.

This set of subjects is, most likely, the only one that the musician likes to address in a truly serious way during his interviews. An example is the conversation that DeLonge had with Spin recently — where the report itself makes this observation.

The artist, who returned to Blink-182 in 2022, commented on the To the Stars Inc. The company has even collaborated with documentaries alongside the History Channel. With the topic trending in the United States in recent years, Tom is more excited than ever.

Amidst jokes when asked about other topics, he said about his company:

I hope people pay attention to all the work I’ve done on the whole UFO/government point of view thing with my company, To the Starsand the movies, TV series, books and things we have coming out. There’s a lot of really good information there for people to learn from – things that I can’t say directly, but I’m excited about those conversations starting.”

The musician refers to the debates that have taken place in the United States Congress about the supposed existence and interaction of UFOs (unidentified flying objects, or UFOs, in English) with American military forces. Tone has been studying the topic for years — to the point of breaking with the Blink last decade so that he could dedicate himself more to this — and his name was remembered when the subject gained popularity.

The artist stated:

A lot of people were like, ‘Oh, he’s not crazy!’ It’s funny. And it was strange for me because I know so much about this subject and I’m connected to it in so many ways. I may feel vindicated and all that, but it really isn’t about me. It’s much bigger. Hopefully, people will pay a little more attention to this and learn a little more about it in the coming years, because these are life-changing things, and I think there’s more coming. There are a lot more people talking about this now.

Blink-182 is a priority for Tom DeLonge

However, do not expect that Tom DeLonge abandon the Blink-182. The band, with which he reunited in 2022, will still be the priority in his life.

When talking about the group he helped found and that made him famous, the musician returns to his usual jokes. He says:

That said, the Blink will be the priority forever. Look at that dressing room. How do I get out of this f*cking dressing room? We have to play in stadiums, because I need a ping pong table in my dressing room. Honestly, I think this is a new beginning for the band. With what we’re planning to do, who we’ve become, and how we’re doing everything now, I think it’s really exciting.”

Since Tone returned, the Blink-182 released a studio album, One More Time… (2023), in addition to an expansion, One More Time… Part 2 (2024). Amid extensive touring activities, the group came to Brazil for the first time, in 2023, to perform at Lollapalooza.

Between 2016 and 2021, the position of vocalist and guitarist was occupied by Matt Skibafrom Alkaline Trio. Along with Mark Hoppus (voice and bass) and Travis Barker (drums), recorded two albums: California (2016) and Nine (2019).

To the Stars Inc.

In 2017, Tom DeLonge met with the engineer Harold Puthoff and retired CIA officer Jim Semivan to create the To the Stars Incwhich investigates the aforementioned issue of UFOs and promotes related studies.

Currently, the company has three divisions: aerospace, science and entertainment. The third is the most active and visible to the public, with books, series, documentaries and films published, while the first are more dedicated to research in their respective areas.

Linked to the entertainment sector, there is also the Angels & Airwavesband created by DeLonge in 2005, when the Blink-182 began a 4 year hiatus. Some of the quartet’s albums and EPs were released by To the Stars and include related topics, as well as To the Stars… Demos, Odds and Ends (2015), the singer and guitarist’s first solo album.
