Charli XCX Explains Why Tour Was ‘Emotionally Difficult’


The singer has been touring with Troye Sivan and will return to the stage in February next year

Charli XCX she admitted that the stage is a “pretty irritating” place for her these days.

In an interview with Varietythe singer talked about the tour Sweatwhich he did to promote Snotlout (2024) alongside Troye Sivanwho, in turn, released his most recent album, Something to give each other (2023).

“I think touring is actually quite difficult emotionally,” he confessed. “I think the stage, especially these days, is a pretty irritating place for me.”

I have caused a lot of physical damage to my body while performing and I almost always experience a lot of pain while performing. Physically, I have nerve damage in my neck from the things I did on stage.

The Englishman added: “In order to give a performance that I think is good enough, I have to throw myself physically – and that’s what really makes me angry when I do it. So, it’s kind of hell.”

Charlie still praised Sivan and other tour partners, saying the “Angel Baby” hitmaker made shows “easier and less of an emotional battle.”

“And a lot of the other people I toured with made me feel so enlightened,” she continued. The artist also admitted that she hasn’t rested: “2024 hasn’t been a great rest, that’s for sure.”
