The musician was recognized by Variety as producer of the decade
Jack Antonoff was elected Producer of the Decade by Variety. In an interview with the vehicle, the artist talked about his career and one of his turning points.
Also accumulating musical productions with his rock band Steel train and the group Funowner of the hit “We Are Young”, in his CV, Antonoff believes it was the partnership with Taylor Swift this changed everything. They joined in the production of 1989 (2014), the singer’s fifth studio album.
“In fact, I would say he was the first person I allowed actually produce, because I was already doing it,” he reflected. “The way my first collaboration with her happened was… I was creating songs, and she would write the lyrics and the melodies, and then we got together and we recorded – it wasn’t that deep.”
“When it got to the point where, in the past, someone said, ‘Now, let’s pass it to producer so-and-so,’ she just said, ‘It’s done’… I was a little shocked — and excited!”, he recalls. “I think that’s part of the reason why we have such a beautiful and long-lasting collaboration.”
Antonoff he has also worked with artists such as Lana Del Rey, Kendrick Lamar, Gentleman, Saint Vincent, Sara Bareilles, 1975 AND Sabrina Carpentiere. For this reason the musician has accumulated several Grammys, especially for collaborations with Fast.
In 2025 he will compete for the award in the Song of the Year categories with “Please Please Please”, by Carpenterand “Fortnight”, by Fast AND Post Malone; Record of the year also for “Fortnight”; and Album of the Year by Short and sweet (2024) e The Department of Tortured Poets (2024), by Carpenter AND Fastrespectively.
