Jack Antonoff attributes rise in career as a music producer to Taylor Swift

The musician was recognized by Variety as Producer of the Decade

Jack Antonoff was elected Producer of the Decade by Variety. In an interview with the vehicle, the artist talked about his career and one of his turning points.

Even accumulating musical productions with his rock band Steel Train and the group Funowner of the hit “We Are Young”, on his resume, Antonoff believes that it was the partnership with Taylor Swift that changed everything. They joined in the production of 1989 (2014), the singer’s fifth studio album.

“In fact, I would say she was the first person I allowed actually produce, because I was already doing that”, he pondered. “The way my first collaboration with her happened was… I was making songs, and she wrote the lyrics and melodies, then we got together and recorded — it wasn’t that deep .”

“When it got to the point where, in the past, someone said, ‘Now, let’s pass it on to producer so-and-so,’ she just said, ‘It’s done’… I was kind of shocked — and thrilled!” he recalled. “I think that’s part of why we have such a long-lasting and beautiful collaboration.”

Antonoff has also worked with artists such as Lana Del Rey, Kendrick Lamar, Lord, St Vincent, Sara Bareilles, The 1975 and Sabrina Carpenter. For this reason, the musician has accumulated several Grammys, mainly for partnerships with Swift.
