The singer says the idea for one of her biggest hits came during a studio session
In an interview with Vanity Fairthe iconic singer and songwriter Mariah Carey shared details about the creative process behind one of his biggest hits, Hero. The single, released in 1993, has become an anthem for many fans around the world, and is part of the album music box, released in the same year. The pop diva said that the song was born completely spontaneously and unexpectedly.
During the interview, Mariah said that the inspiration for Hero came out while in the studio, when some representatives of Sony Pictures visited the place. They were discussing the movie Herohero Dustin Hoffmannwhich tells the story of a man who saves several people.
In HeroI was at the studio and some people from Sony Pictures showed up and started talking to me about the movie Herowith Dustin Hoffman.
It was about a guy who saves a lot of people and things. I left the room, went to the bathroom and when I came back I had the idea: [canta] ” A hero arrives” (“A Hero Rises”).
I went back into the room and started singing it to Walter Afanasieff, who I was working with at the time. I said, “This is the [tipo de] song we should do.” So we started working on it and then I finished it, but it was pretty quick.
