In a new album, Arthur Nestrovski and Paula Morelenbaum bring together classics and forgotten songs by Tom Jobim and, in Rio, a show and a musical celebrate the composer’s legacy
30 years ago, on December 8, 1994, Tom Jobim died. Composer of real anthems that represented Brazil abroad, Jobim receives tributes, with the release of two albums, a musical and a show.
Stacey discovered Tom Jobim in the late 1970s, at the age of 14. Throughout his career, he has included several Brazilian songs in his repertoire, including Waters of March, who performs in French. The song has more than 60 million plays on Spotify.
Her husband, flutist and saxophonist Jim Tomlimson, will also be part of the show.
2027, Tom Jobim’s centenary
In 2027, when Jobim turns 100, the composer is expected to receive more honors. Ana Jobim, Tom’s widow, prepares a photobiography of the composer. The book will bring together images taken by her and other photographers.
Ana also prepares the exhibition, together with the conductor, composer and director Aluisio Didier Tom Jobim: solo albumswhich will occupy the Jardim Botânico, one of Tom’s favorite places in Rio. The exhibition will contain information and videos on 12 of the awardee’s solo albums.
