Show marked Mike Portnoy’s return to the band and began the celebration of 40 years of career
THE Dream Theater began the long-awaited 40th Anniversary Tour 2024-2025 last Monday, December 10th, in Belo Horizonte, in BeFly Hall. The show, which lasted three hours and 18 songs, marked the return of the drummer and founding member Mike Portnoyabsent from the band since 2010. With a setlist of 18 songs and a duration of around three hours, the group revisited four decades of history.
The Minas Gerais public was welcomed with a backdrop that referenced iconic album covers, such as Images and Words (1992), Octavarium (2005) and Distance Over Time (2019). The band started the performance with the opening theme of Psycho (1960), followed by Metropolis Pt. 1: The Miracle and the Sleeperwhich brought the first great moment of the night, with the stage fully lit and the musicians entering.
The setlist for the first part of the show featured classics such as TheMirror, Strange Déjà Vu and Hollow Yearsin addition to including songs from the era with Mike Mangini, such as Barstool Warrior and This Is the Life.
Now, Dream Theater continues with performances in Rio de Janeiro (13/12), São Paulo (15/12), Curitiba (16/12) and Porto Alegre (17/12).
