Having overcome the medical emergency, Queens of the Stone Age returns to the stage in June 2025, for a series of shows in the United States. The following month, he heads to Europe and the United Kingdom, where he plays mainly at festivals.
Josh Homme’s cancer
In June last year, Josh Homme revealed that he had been diagnosed with cancer. The leader of Queens of the Stone Age became aware of the disease in 2022, but chose not to bring the matter public straight away.
However, at the end of 2023, Homme declared to ITV News who was free from the disease. He did not specify the location of the tumor, only saying that he underwent surgery to remove it.
About the diagnosis, he told the magazine Revolver (via Igor Miranda website):
“I never say it can’t get worse. I never say that and I don’t advise it. But I say it can be improved. Cancer is the cherry on top of an interesting time period, you know? I’m extremely grateful that I can put this behind me and look back on it as something bizarre, but it made me better. I’m fine with that. There’s a lot of things I want to do. And a lot of people I want to do this with.”
He also refers to the legal battle he fought with his ex-wife, Brody Dalle (The Distillers), for custody of the children. Homme won the dispute and gained full custody.
