Kylie Minogue and Prince’s lost song leaks online 32 years after it was created

“Baby Doll,” a song recorded in 1992, was released on YouTube this Saturday

Collaboration between Kylie Minogue AND Prince from 32 years ago was saved and published online.

“Baby Doll” was recorded shortly after the artists met in 1992. Minogue he found Prince backstage at his touring show Diamonds and Pearls (1991), in London, in June of that year.

The owner of the hit “Padam Padam”, therefore, was invited to the studio of Prince in Minneapolis. Still in London, however, they met in a hotel room, where Prince he would ask, “Where is your handwriting?”

The singer helped with the composition and sent the demo tape to her address, but the material was lost.

Minogue has spoken about the partnership in several interviews, including BBC Musicin which he reported that his record company had no interest in a song entirely produced by Prince. He also said that the artist’s estate must have a copy of the tape.

According to the NMEthe track would be included in a compilation of Diamonds and love with songs recorded between 1990 and 1992 that would be released in 2022. The estate of Prince decided to cover only the songs of Diamonds and Pearlsexcluding “Baby Doll” in the project released in 2023.

Kylie Minogue in Brazil
