Mark Tremonti mentioned a song chosen by the members of the group, but months earlier he talked about another song that was a favorite of the members
Most artists have some difficulty choosing their favorite work. Node I believethis doesn’t seem to be a problem: one song is considered by the entire band to be the best of their career, according to the guitarist Marco Tremonti.
In conversation with the Classic rockalso a musician Alter Bridge and project manager Tremonti revealed that the definitive song of the I believeaccording to the members themselves, it is a ballad. It’s about “The Man Without a Face”released in Human clay (1999), the group’s most successful album.
As for her, Sign explained:
It was always the song that we said, “this is our best song.” It has a lot of emotion, especially live. It’s something that really resonates with us as a band.”
At the moment, Tremonti narrated an event from the rehearsals of the recent meeting of I believe. The situation it involves “The Man Without a Face” and the singer Scott Stapp gives an idea of the song’s impact on the members. The guitarist said:
It’s fun. When we were rehearsing for the tour, Scott would sing at the top of his lungs at first and then say, “You know, I’m going to take it easy, I need to rest my voice for the shows.” So when we play “The Man Without a Face”he was giving it his all! It’s the kind of music that involves you when you play it.”
Human clay was the work responsible for placing the I believe above. Remembered for singles like “Higher” AND “With arms wide open” – which won the Grammy for best rock song in 2001 – the album reached number one on the charts in the United States, Canada, Norway and Denmark. To date, more than 20 million copies have been sold.
Change of opinion?
A few months before the interview for the Classic rock, Marco Tremonti spoke Ultimate guitar (via website Igor Miranda) on Creed’s favorite song, but on that occasion it wasn’t “The Man Without a Face”. The guitarist mentioned a track from the album Full circle (2009), the only album released during the quartet’s first reunion, which took place between 2009 and 2012.
Commenting on possible changes to the setlist for current shows, the musician stated:
Yes, we talked about maybe playing ‘Ode’from the first album. I know a lot of people have asked me this “Stay here with me” AND ‘HIDE’. Our favorite song is ‘Squad’from Full circle. I think this album was not very prestigious. We want people to know about it. So we’ll start playing more tracks from it, and you never know, we’ll probably try to play as much as we can next year, maybe every song we’ve ever recorded.”
Tremonti he compared the song to his other works Alter Bridge and in the band that bears your surname, as well as mentioning technical aspects. Sign he said:
Just because of the atmosphere it creates, there are some of my favorite guitar moments in that song. The tuning is open G minor, which I had a lot of fun with. I wrote the song for “Words Darker Than Their Wings” From Alter Bridge with that tuning, as well as the one that will be on the next album by Tremonti. There are many great chord voicings in this tuning that you won’t necessarily find in any other. I just love her.”
Full circle far from having the same commercial impact as Human claybut still achieved good results, such as 2nd place in the US charts. After the second break, which began after the promotional tour of the album, I believe reunited again in 2023.
