Limp Bizkit’s Fred Durst says there’s a misunderstanding with the song “Nookie”

Vocalist stated that the song addresses romantic themes and experiences of pain and humiliation, but only sexual content is remembered by the public

Member of the North American rock band Limp Bizkitthe vocalist Fred Durst commented on the criticisms made against the group. More specifically, Durst spoke about what he defined as a misunderstanding about music “Nookie”launched in 1999.

Although the title is slang with a sexual connotation in English, the musician stated that, in fact, the lyrics are more focused on love.

To the magazine Dazed(via NME), Durst was asked about the meaning of “Nookie” and responded with a frustrated tone. He assessed that the public does not consider the track’s complete narrative.

The funny thing is that no one paid attention to the story of ‘Nookie’. They just heard the catchphrase.”

The artist explained that the song was created from personal experiences, including weaknesses:

The first time I became intimately involved with someone, I was completely in love. This relationship made me feel deep emotions, but I ended up discovering that this person was getting involved with others,” he said.

Durst revealed that his friends’ comments about his suffering led him to create a chorus with a kind of synthesis of the experience, summarized in the phrase “I did it all for the nookie / I did everything for sex”.

However, the vocalist highlights that other excerpts talk about sadness, pain and jokes made with him, but this part of the content was ignored by fans.
