The artist spoke about the first international tour of his career, his presence at festivals and future projects

With an increasingly sought-after presence, she has already performed at Lollapalooza, Rock in Rio, The man on fire and, more recently, in Psychic. The artist spoke to Rolling Stone Brasil a few days before the Pará festival and classified the event as “a very nice way to end the year” after a series of performances.

“I say the show is a big ritual of hypnosis, of calling people to your portal,” the artist explains about how he sees this type of presentation. “So we open the portal and then we close it and during this, different people enter and exit the festival. There are people who enter in the middle of the show, who arrive at the end. This is a responsibility to be able to present my work and, at the same time, seeking excellence in every second, which is what I seek.”

The festival closed the artist’s program this year and, as is typical of his performances, prepares something special for each show. “I always bring improvised things, my freestyle characteristic is exactly this.” For the festival he created a special version of the song “Camburi,” For example.

“Hip hop has managed to open the doors to other genres”, reflects the artist, who does not deny that the path has yet to be established and underlines, for example, the importance of peripheral cultural centers. “So that people like me can go to festivals,” says the artist.

New projects

Although he does not strictly adhere to the dates, Brisa flow he likes to release an album every two years. “It’s the pace of my career,” he explains. Despite not releasing an album this year, when Janequeo turned two, did his first international tour. “It was the Janequeo band version, and we will materialize it. We have three recorded songs that have been played at festivals, they are “Camburi,’ ‘Searched‘ AND ‘Violeta Fuè.’ They will now be released in 2025.”

He will also release a song titled “White roses“, produced by Gray Lionknown for his work as part of the duo Stereodubs. “He is a guy who has really incredible productions and I have dreamed of this since I arrived in Sao Paulo.”

Janequeo conquers the world

The name Janequeo It is a tribute to the indigenous people Mapuche-Pehuenche who, as the artist explains, “was a great negotiator to be a warrior in the Wallmapu war and I put that name on the album because I believe that in the music industry I had to be a ‘rare musician’, as I sing.” The project explored genres such as drill and house and addressed themes dear to her, without neglecting joy.

The international tour began in Chile, the rapper’s parents’ country of origin, in an important place for hip hop culture, Patio Socrates, in Valparaíso. “Then I went to other classical stages and had a transcultural space in Concepción.” He reveals that beyond the shows, he built bridges and established connections.
