The legendary heavy metal band played two big shows at Allianz Parque in Sao Paulo
Iron Maiden, one of the greatest heavy metal bands of all time, have concluded their world tour Future Past Tour with two consecutive shows at Allianz Parque, in Saint Paulin the days 6 and 7 December. The occasion also marked the farewell of Nicko McBrain from stadiums like drummer of the band after 42 years of history.

What Iron Maiden said about Nicko McBrain’s departure
The legendary drummer Nicko McBrain has confirmed his departure from Iron Maiden after more than four decades of uninterrupted contributions to the band. The announcement was made on the group’s social media, shortly after the show held at Allianz Parque, in Sao Paulo, which marks the symbolic end of their journey on stage with Maiden.
In his statement, Nicko thanked him for his 42-year career with the group, since he took over in 1982, replacing Clive Burr. He stressed that he will continue to be involved in Iron Maiden-related projects, but without touring. Furthermore, the musician revealed that he plans to focus on personal ventures, such as his brands and restaurant Rock-N-Roll Ribs.
“Touring with Maiden for the last 42 years has been an incredible journey. I owe everything to the fans and you have made this an unforgettable experience. Thank you for everything!” said McBrain.
The band also expressed their opinion through a note signed by manager Rod Smallwood and the remaining members. They expressed gratitude for Nicko’s valuable contribution, mentioning that he will continue to be part of the “Maiden family”. The press release confirms that a new drummer has already been chosen and the announcement will be made soon.
“Nicko is and will always be part of the Maiden family,” said Steve Harris. “We have incredible memories of the last 42 years and wish them much success in their new projects.”
In recent years, Nicko has faced health issues, including a transient ischemic attack in early 2023, which affected his performances. Despite his recovery, the 72-year-old musician admitted he had to adapt his style to continue playing. Iron Maiden will resume activities in 2025 with the tour Run for your lifewhich celebrates 50 years of the band on the road.
