As 2024 draws to a close, Paul McCartney has set his promise for the new year: to complete his next album.

The revelation took place in a short question and answer session held with fans and published on the singer’s official website.

The icon of Beatles he explained it, even though he was busy with the tour I’m back – with visits to Brazil -, he is looking forward to continuing to produce new songs.

I’ve been working on a lot of music and had to put it aside because of touring. So I hope to get back to that and finish a lot of these songs. My New Year’s resolution is to finish a new album. What do you think?”, replied the singer.

The last solo album released by the musician, entitled McCartney IIIwas made available to the public in 2020. This project can be considered a continuation of the albums McCartney 1970 and McCartney II 1980, although it appeared after the album Egypt stationreleased in 2018.

In 2021, the artist also presented the remix album titled to the world McCartney III imaginedwhich saw the collaboration of renowned artists such as Beck, Saint Vincent, Phoebe Bridgers, Damon Albarn, Khruangbin, Domenico Fike, Josh Homme AND Anderson.Paak.

While he hasn’t released any new solo music recently, this year was also marked by the debut of the group’s latest song. Beatles, “Now and Then”.

The track is based on a piano recording made by John Lenon in 1977 and so on Yoko Ono gave it to the surviving members of the band in 1994. At that time, George Harrison he had recorded some guitar parts with the intention of including them in the compilation series The Beatles anthologybut due to the poor quality of the original recording, the project was abandoned.

As the years went by, McCartney managed to restore the recording using artificial intelligence technologies. Together with Ringo Starrrecorded new beats and vocals which were mixed with the demo of Lennon and the old guitar parts of Harrison.

“Now and then” was nominated for several Grammy awards, including Record of the Year.
