The singer’s arrival left the audience divided, despite the sold-out crowd and the good response to the new album From Zero
Around the LinkinPark with new members has been one of the most talked about topics in music in 2024. Last September, after months of speculation, the band confirmed their return with singer Emily Armstrong and the drummer Colin Brittain in the vacancies of the deceased Chester Bennington and those absent Rob Bourdonrespectively.
As expected, the decision generated controversy due to a number of factors. The choice to continue without Bennington and replace him with a woman would certainly not have pleased everyone – and the remnants of the previous lineup knew it.
According to Offspring guitarist Noodles, the choice proved to be “courageous”. In an interview with Brazilian journalist Marcelo Vieira (via Chatty), member of one of the most beloved punk bands of all time, celebrated the initiative.
Initially, he stated:
“I think it’s an incredible and brave choice for them. I know a lot of people won’t accept a singer for whatever reason. But I think it’s a stupid reason.”
The musician, real name Kevin Wassermanhe even revealed that he knew Armstrong’s work even before he joined Linkin Park. He said:
“Emily is amazing. She has an incredible voice. We’ve toured with her Sarah is dead [banda que Emily integrava antes e da qual ela segue como integrante].”
Finally, Noodles said he admired Linkin Park’s work and wished his fellow professionals success. He underlined:
“I wish these guys the best. I hope they have more success than ever because Emily is amazing and these guys are great and make great music.”
