Titled Let There Be Drums!, the documentary will feature interviews prior to the death of Taylor Hawkins
taylor hawkins and Ringo Starr will be the protagonists of a documentary about drummers. Entitled Let There Be Drums! (2022), the film will be released in theaters on October 28 of that year, directed by Justin Kreutzmannson of Bill Kreutzmanndrummer of The Grateful Dead.
Second deadline, the documentary “examines the essential role drums play in great bands and how music is passed from generation to generation.” The production will feature interviews with Hawkins before the drummer of Foo Fighters died in Bogotá, Colombia, on March 25 this year.
Stewart Copelandof The Police, Stephen Perkins of Jane’s Addiction, Chad Smith of Red Hot Chili Peppers and the exArmas e RosasMatt Sorum will also participate in the film with starr and Hawkins. According to Kreutzmannthe idea of the project is “to talk to the most influential drummers in the world in hopes of better understanding his father and the instrument that defined his life.”
“The idea of doing Let There Be Drums! came to me as a gift. Literally,” he said in a statement. “It all started on Christmas 1977, when I was given a Super-8 film camera. The first home movies I filmed were of my dad on stage at Winterland in San Francisco.”
“They were filmed from my perspective, sitting right behind him on the drum stand so he could keep an eye on me during the performances of the Grateful Dead. The drums and the drummers who play them are an important component of my whole life.”
