Argentine court charges five people with Liam Payne’s death

Five people have been prosecuted by Argentine justice in connection with the death of Liam Payneformer band member One direction. The singer died last October, at the age of 31, after falling from the third floor of the hotel where he was staying in Buenos Aires.

The hotel manager, Gilda Martin, and employee Esteban Grassi, as well as Roger Nores, allegedly a friend of Payne, were charged with involuntary manslaughter, according to Argentina’s National Penitentiary and Penitentiary Prosecutor’s Office, cited by the newspaper. Payne was trying to escape his hotel room when he fell from the hotel’s third floor to his death. According to the British newspaper Daily Mailhotel staff knew he had threatened to use the balcony to avoid being trapped there, according to a report seen by the newspaper.

In a video released by the hotel’s security cameras, the former One Direction member is said to have been “convulsing” in the lobby, an hour before his death, due to drug use. However, the hotel staff decided to take the unconscious singer back to his room.
