Musician urgently underwent catheterization with angioplasty; When thanking his fans for their love, he joked: “thank you, from the bottom of my heart”
Guilherme Arantes underwent a heart procedure last Thursday (26). Thus, the musician had to cancel his next commitments — such as a show on New Year’s Eve in Santos (SP) and another performance at Navio do New Clothes —, as he would need absolute rest for 10 days.
The information was confirmed through the artist’s page on Instagram. Arantes underwent a catheterization with angioplasty, which was not scheduled, but was carried out successfully. Often performed together, the two procedures aim to diagnose and treat coronary artery obstructions.
In a note, the musician’s team states:
“We inform you that, on December 26, 2024, singer and composer Guilherme Arantes underwent an unscheduled catheterization with angioplasty, which was carried out successfully.
On medical recommendation, Guilherme Arantes will need to comply with absolute rest for the next 10 days.
Therefore, unfortunately, he will not be able to participate in the New Year’s Eve Show in Santos, scheduled for December 31, 2024, nor in the Navio do Roupa Nova, on January 3, 2025.
We thank you for your understanding and support from all fans, partners and friends at this time.

Despite the recovery period, Arantes appears to be doing well. So much so that he posted it again, himself, on his page on Facebook.
There, he published a text with more details about the situation, denied having suffered a heart attack and even made a joke about the case. He states:
“I want to thank the kind words, expressions of appreciation and positive energy from friends, colleagues, fans, everyone.
What happened was of a preventive but critical nature, an emergency catheterization to verify the reality suggested by the symptoms and in the imaging exams… a severe blockage of the Anterior Descending Coronary Artery was then found in the order of 80 to 90 percent, so the examination turned into angioplasty. No heart attack, no cardiac arrest, we didn’t let it get to that point.
I want to praise the exceptional quality of the doctors — Dr. Wladmir Machado, my cardiologist, Dr. Cristiano Guedes and his phenomenal team at the Star unit at Hospital Aliança, who worked in an exemplary, precise manner, with unforgettable care and dedication.
I’m here now, ‘soaking’, just rest and strict medication, I’m fine, turning the key to 2025, to the future that will come.
