The Rage Against the Machine guitarist stresses that the group in question is not “manufactured”: “they must be doing something right, right?”
Given that rock audiences currently tend to be somewhat conservative, it is expected that younger bands will be viewed with suspicion. A clear objective is the Maneskin.
There are those who criticize the Italian group for their more pop-oriented musical approach or for their flashy visuals. Accusations that this was a project “manufactured” by record companies are not uncommon.
Tom Morellowho worked in 2022 with the musicians on the single “Gossip” (released in January 2023 and featured on the album Rush!of the same year), directly disagrees with this type of statement. In an interview with Rolling Stone USAthe guitarist of Anger against the machine he revealed that he has been a big fan of the band since he discovered them. He initially reflected on his connection to Italy:
“I’m a fan. First of all, I’m very proud of my Italian roots. The Morellos come from a small town called Pratiglione, at the foot of the Italian Alps. I’ve always felt a very strong connection with the country.”
He then underlined the importance of the quartet:
“When I heard there was an Italian rock band blowing up the world, I thought, ‘Really? Let’s go.’ young. “
The musician said that, at times, rock has been discarded by people throughout history – and there has always been one band that refused to let that happen. This helps, in particular, to renew the scene and introduce young fans to the style.

Always during the interview Tom Morello underlined that it is not possible to state that the Maneskin it was “manufactured” or “assembled to be this or that.” In his opinion, the group has an authentic approach and all members are talented, as well as connecting with the audience.
“If you’ve seen any videos of them playing European festivals, you’ve seen that they look a lot like some of those great ’90s bands that made the crowd gasp. They must be doing something right, right?”
In a pause rhythm
After an intense sequence of activities between 2022 and 2023 – to the point of having created around 170 shows in the period -, the Maneskin is on pause. Its members must use the year 2025 to rest and mobilize individual initiatives.
The bass player Vittoria De Angelis has already worked alone in 2024 with her electronic music project, entitled to a partnership with Anita and DJ set in Sao Paulo last November. In turn, the singer Damiano Davide He has released solo singles, has an album coming out and has a solo show scheduled in Sao Paulo (Tokio Marine Hall) for November 7th.
