Andressa Suita, wife of Gusttavo Lima, expressed surprise and disapproval after discovering the singer’s desire to run for president of the Republic in 2026. This Friday (1/3), she published a photo on her Instagram with an expression of amazement and the caption: “When I wake up to the news that my husband wants to be president of Brazil.”
The public demonstration highlighted the family’s resistance to their compatriot’s political project. People close to him have been trying to convince him to give up the idea of entering politics since November 2024, with Andressa being one of the voices most against it.
Parties compete for Gustavo Lima’s support
Despite the family’s resistance, political figures continue to compete for his support. In August 2024, the governor of Goiás, Ronaldo Caiado, was the first to seek him out, proposing a candidacy for the Senate with União Brasil. The idea would be to exploit his popularity to strengthen the regional base and promote a possible presidential candidacy of Caiado himself.
The following month, former President Jair Bolsonaro also approached the singer, suggesting a Senate candidacy via PL. The strategy aims to increase the party’s influence in Goiás and prepare the scenario for 2026, with Bolsonaro or another candidate nominated by him.
In addition to União Brasil and PL, Progressistas has expressed interest in supporting the singer, if he continues with his candidacy plans.

Through his advisor, Gusttavo Lima limited himself to commenting that “his name is available, should the country need it”.
He is currently the most listened to Brazilian artist on the Spotify platform, with more than 25 million monthly listeners.
History of controversies
Gusttavo Lima’s name was involved in an investigation into illegal betting in 2024, when the Pernambuco Public Prosecutor even requested his arrest. The case was closed after authorities concluded there was insufficient evidence to continue the trial.
Deolane as vice president
Deolane Bezerra, lawyer and influencer, commented in a relaxed way on a post by Gusttavo Lima on Instagram: “I’ll become vice president! I’m joking.” She was also the subject of recent controversy when she was arrested on charges of involvement in laundering money from illegal gambling. The influencer was released on September 23, following a decision from the Pernambuco court.
