Duchess removes ‘Fuso’ clip from YouTube

The controversy over the gesture in the video leads to the artist’s decision

Singer Duquesa has decided to remove the video for her song “Fuso” from YouTube after backlash for a gesture in the video. The action generated interpretations that associated the movement with a criminal faction in Bahia, which the artist’s team categorically denied.

According to the official note from producer Boogie Naipe, the sole purpose of the gesture was to represent the three days that Duquesa spent in the United States to attend the BET Awards, where she was nominated in the “Best New International Artist” category.

The team emphasized that the central message of Duquesa’s work is female empowerment and that her artistic path has never been linked to criminal intentions.

The singer regretted what happened and announced that she is preparing new visual material for the song “Fuso”. The single, released in December 2024 in collaboration with Go Dassisti, is the most recent work of the artist, who continues to promote his album “Taurus, Vol. 2”.

Duchess: female emancipation

Duquesa, recognized as one of the female revelations of national trap, has used her music to highlight the importance of women’s space in rap. He praises pioneers like Negra Li and Kmila CDD, who paved the way in a landscape historically marked by machismo.

For the artist, the current moment in female rap is the result of a long process of resistance and innovation. “Today we can bring our femininity into rap in a respected way. The scenario has changed and we increasingly appropriate this space,” reflects Duquesa.

With new projects underway and her presence at major festivals, the singer continues to consolidate herself as a force in the musical and cultural movement in Brazil.
