Carlos Pitta, singer and composer who discovered Ivete Sangalo, dies

The musician has recorded more than 15 albums and composed for names such as Elba Ramalho, Alcione and Margareth Menezes

The singer and composer died this Tuesday 7. Carlo Pittawho discovered Ivete Sangalo when the singer was only 17 years old. Carlos Pitta, who was 67 years old, was diabetic and was admitted to the Roberto Santos hospital in Salvador, where his death was confirmed.

With more than 15 albums recorded, it has songs performed by Elba Ramalho, Alcione and Margareth Menezes. Carlos Pitta has already shared the stage with names such as Caetano Veloso, Dominguinhos, Geraldo Azevedo, Belchior, Nando Cordel, Fagner and Ivete Sangalo.

In July 2023, when she was invited by Mano Brown to participate in his podcast Body to bodyIvete Sangalo recalled the beginning of his career. She said that it was Carlos Pitta who noticed her talent and that he even lent an electric guitar to the singer to start her career in the bars of Salvador.

Carlos Pitta was from Feira de Santana. The town hall of his hometown issued a note of condolence. “The death of Carlos Pitta represents a great loss for music and for our city. He was a great artist who left an immeasurable legacy. His albums, his compositions and his performances will forever remain in the memory of our people” reads the statement.
