Despite countless successes, the British artist revealed that he could have done better in the verses of a certain song
Owner of numerous hits that have sold millions of copies around the world, singer and producer Robbie Williams he can be proud of the career he has built in the music world.
It’s no surprise that part of his journey is depicted in the film Better man (2024), critically acclaimed and nominated for Golden Globe in the Best Music Song category “Forbidden Road”composed of Williams.
However, the artist revealed that he hates the lyrics of one of his songs. The song in question is “Millennium”from the album I was waiting for you (1998).
The track is based on a sample of “You only live twice”originally recorded by Nancy Sinatra for the film of the same name James Bond. It was also the pop icon’s first single to reach the top of the UK singles chart.
It could be better
The revelation of Williams it happened in an interview with Colin Paterson node BBCBreakfast.
The journalist shared:
I interviewed Robbie Williams at @bbcbreakfast and was really funny about his dislike of his own music ‘Millennium’.”
Reflecting on the hit single, Williams he said, “I just don’t like the lyrics to that song. I wrote that crap.”
Quoting some lines from the song, the artist continued:
“We have the stars that direct our destiny” [Temos estrelas direcionando nosso destino]. We have? AND “Let’s pray it’s not too late” [Estamos rezando para que nĂŁo seja tarde demais]. Are we? Because we know we’re falling from grace’ [Porque sabemos que estamos caindo em desgraça]. Are we? And then the verse ‘Millennium’ which is like it was welded to fit there. So you ask me what my memories of the song are and I say: I could have done better.”
As he reflects on his work, Williams is gearing up for a major tour of the UK, Ireland and Europe this year. The announcement came shortly after he hinted to fans that he would be on the road again “soon.”
