In an interview with Contigo!, country acts Fiduma and Jeca reveal that they have already thought about changing the name of the duo and share plans for 2025
The duo Fiduma and Jeca – known for his originality and innovation, with funny lyrics and an irreverent style – has achieved enormous success in the country music scene. Still reaping the benefits of the success of the DVD commemorating 10 years of their career, released last year, they reveal, in an interview with With you!new plans for 2025. In the very relaxed chat, the musicians also reveal that they have already thought about changing their stage name because, according to them, it was “scary” at first.
Pedro Giuliano (Fiduma) e Marcelo Dadona (Jeca) met 15 years ago, at the Unesp Faculty of Agronomy, in Ilha Solteira, in the hinterland of São Paulo. It was around this time that nicknames emerged. “We met in 2010 at university. And there, every freshman, when he enters, is given a nickname. So, they invented Fiduma for me on the first day of class, and Jeca for my partner. And Fiduma and Jeca, nicknames from college, it ended up becoming our stage name. It was something we invented, in fact it was already our nickname from college, so much so that in college everyone knew me as Fiduma, and Jeca as Jeca. Everyone there has a nickname. , Therefore for us it was very natural”says Fiduma.
“After a while, when we started playing a lot in Ilha Solteira, we started going to do shows in other cities in the region, and because it was a different audience, it wasn’t the Ilha Solteira audience, who were already used to Fiduma & Jeca -, everyone was scared when they saw that name, but it’s nothing more than our university nickname”continues Fiduma.
“Today it has become very natural in our way (…) In our daily life, we really like to play, it is a total joy. In our show, we try to convey this joy through our songs; but this shows how natural that the our career was to leave college, the republics, go to Baiozinho and try to change our name (laughs)”Jeca delivery. “We try, we try to change”strengthens Fiduma.
“We tried to change it to Pedro and Marcelo, which is our real name. And then we saw that it was very confusing and didn’t fit our show proposal, our everyday proposal. Fiduma and Jeca I think were more natural We adopted that name again and the public embraced it. That’s when we recorded Anjo Chapadex and it all happened.”explains Jeca. “It was very strange because we had to do a show 100 kilometers from Ilha Solteira, and then we sent the Fiduma & Jeca logo and the guy from the club got scared: ‘Wow, what do you mean Fiduma & Jeca?’. The guy he didn’t have the courage to put it on the poster because it was very strange at the time. And there are people who, when they hear it for the first time, get really scared, but we get used to them.” Fiduma Amendment. “The person listened, found it strange, but then did not forget”underlines Jeca.
‘BEST MOMENT OF THE CAREER’
In their decade-long career, the duo Fiduma & Jeca released a commemorative album in April last year. In December of the same year they released the second part of the project with eight successful songs and another new one, entitled Real connections. The track was written by the duo themselves together with Enrico Tranquilro AND Mark Antonyand talks about how we are increasingly tied to cell phones and technology, forgetting to truly live life. Ultimately, the song calls for more real connections.
“At 10 years old we are experiencing the best moment of our career, not only for music, but because we are learning to work, learning to manage the office: I deal more with the financial part and Fiduma takes care more with the commercial part. , and we get together to do the marketing. We have a team and we are working on everything, basically I think that since last year we have already learned a lot in this part of the composition, really enjoying it. I think we are having the best moment of our career”confesses Jeca.
“We have also matured a lot; we have also matured in the lyrics and also in the image. Every day we build a step forward in our career. You see it now with Cortando as BR, which is a song above all with more concepts; you also take Bora Viver , which is a song from this project that is really beautiful, that talks about enjoying life, about having real connections, that talks about the digital world, that everything is digital nowadays So, there are a lot of conceptual songs coming too for future projects. Our composition line is very good. Okay, we are looking for things abroad to bring to Brazil too (…) And I think it’s working very well”adds Fiduma.
PLANS FOR 2025
Fiduma guarantees that enthusiasts will be able to see many new features in 2025. “I think it will be the best year of our career. 2024 was the best year so far. 2025 will be even better, God willing. We have already prepared a lot of good music, the repertoire is incredible for next year. We still have to is shaping what kind of project it will be: which will be more acoustic or with a large audience, with a more foreign or country sound, there will be a slightly more country touch, already because of the lyrics of the songs. It’s a song that has a very current country atmosphere, which they use in United States, so we’re really looking for that sound, that feel.informs Fiduma.
“I think it’s really nice that with this studio part we will dedicate ourselves even more to our musical part”strengthens the singer Jeca. “And music is the raw material of our work, right? If there’s no music, it’s gone. It’s a child”concludes country singer Fiduma.
