Rock veteran, Alice Cooper he had his songs re-recorded by several younger names. One of his successes, “Poison”from 1989, received a reinterpretation that, in the artist’s eyes, stood out.
The version of Powerful wolfa German power metal band, bears some similarities to the stage shows popularized by Vincenzo Furnier (real name of Alice). It got to the point where he himself showed his appreciation.
Group keyboard player, Falk Maria Schlegel revealed to the magazine Metal hammer with whom he had a recent meeting Cooper. On that occasion he received a compliment of great significance.
We know it Alice Cooper. We did a cover of it ‘Poison’ on the occasion of his 75th birthday. I love the whole look of Alice on stage. He’s that character on stage and he’s a really great guy off stage. He came to us and said, “congratulations on your version of.” ‘Poison’It’s even better than mine.”
Schlagel was flattered by the statement of Alicebut recognizes the strength of the original song, released on the album Garbage(1989). In the version of Powerful wolfelements of the band’s sound were added, such as the distinctive organ. Falk concluded:
I’m not sure if you really think that, because no version is better than the original, but it fits perfectly into the universe of Powerful wolfthe type of music, with the organ and the voice of Attila ( Dornsinger). And I love this song, it’s a once in a lifetime song.”

THE Powerful wolf traditionally produces many covers. Also in 2023, the German group made its own version of “Bark to the Moon”title track from the 1983 album released by Ozzy Osbourne.
In 2015, the band produced Metallum Nostruma covers album that includes material from names like Judas Priest, Black Saturday, Iron Maiden, Running wild, Wild AND Gary Moore.

Founded in 2003, in Saarbrücken, Germany, the Powerful wolf is composed of Matthew Greywolf AND Charles Greywolf on guitars, as well as Falk Maria Schlegel on keyboards, Attila Dorn under the heading e Roel van Helden on drums – since 2011. His proposal turned out to be slightly different in power metal.
The members’ names are pseudonyms, which helps develop a sort of fictional story. This, combined with the use of the corpse on the face and the striking appearance on stage, makes the association between the Powerful wolf AND Alice Cooperconsidered the creator of the so-called shock rock.
Lyrics about werewolves and folk legends add a devilish and irreverent touch to the elements of the Catholic Church. The choruses are usually loud, meant to be sung live with audience participation, as part of a formula that has become popular with audiences, especially in Europe.
THE Powerful wolf he has ten studio albums spanning more than 20 years of career. The most recent is Wake up the wicked (2024). With just one visit to Brazil – eight shows in 2020 –, the Germans return to the country as one of the attractions of Outdoor Bangers 2025a festival that takes place in May at the Memorial da América Latina, in São Paulo.
