Dinho Ouro Preto detailed the process of re-recording the tracks for Capital Inicial 4.0 alongside great Brazilian music artists
Brazilian rock symbol, Initial Capital is celebrating four decades of a career filled with stories, tours, records and lots and lots of music. To celebrate, the group releases at the end of August an album with re-recordings of the band’s greatest hits – this time, with partnerships that mix generations.
Marina SenaVitor KleyAna GabrielaCarlinhos BrownPitty and Samuel Rosa lent their vocals to give a new look to some of the 12 tracks chosen to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Initial Capital. Choose not easy, as pointed out Dinho Ouro Preto in an interview with Rolling Stone Brazil.
“It was complicated,” he recalled. “As for the repertoire of singles accumulated over these years, a lot was left out.” Among the tracks that entered the disc are some B-sides, such as “Insomnia,” “Vendetta” and “Kamikaze,” as well as other popular songs such as “First mistakes,”“Natasha,” and “Your way.”
To arrive at the final selection of just 12 tracks, Dino explained that the group chose not to re-record the same songs that were featured on the live album made in New York in 2015. “It would be very expensive to record something that lasted hours. It was very difficult. And a lot was left out, you know? A lot of people ended up frustrated within the band itself, because so much was excluded,” he said.

On the other hand, the “lack” of songs was rewarded with the differential of the album Initial Capital 4.0: partnerships. While music veterans aside, Carlinhos Brown, Pitty and Samuel Rosa closely followed the group’s career, the “newbies” Marina SenaVitor Kley and Ana Gabriela thrilled to receive the invitation to enter the history of the band.
“I don’t want to belittle the Samuelnor the pitty, nor the Carlinhos. They were great too, super pals, friends of ours for many, many years. They were all incredibly patient,” he said. Dino, who highlighted how working with the musicians of a new generation was a completely new experience.
“Look, we called them hard. Mainly these three, the A-N-AO Vitor and the Marina. And what we liked most was their reaction. We don’t realize it, because we’re on the road non-stop, but our music entered their lives through their parents. And they said that when they were invited, they told their parents ‘look how cool, we were invited’,” he recalled.
“They told how happy everyone was. How it was part of their lives, how they grew up listening. THE Marina said that she comes from a city in the interior of the north of Minas where she felt like her own natasha, how she felt like a fish out of water in her town, and she was so perceived there. O Victor Kley said that ‘First mistakes’ it was part of his family’s soundtrack. ”
Dino He added: “When you hear that, especially from the people you’ve invited, you realize the extent of the resonance of your music. How much it was part of life, day to day, how much it is part of the popular songbook. This is something, at least to me, surprising. Even today you see the relevance that Brazilian rock has in the lives of some people. And in the case of the three guests, all three reacted the same way. With joy, they put on a shirt with enthusiasm.”
The DVD and Disc Initial Capital 4.0 will be released on August 26th and a deluxe version, with five extra songs, will be available in November. In addition, the group will tour Brazil to celebrate four decades of career, which will begin on September 9 at Rock in Rio and will pass through 20 cities, including São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Porto Alegre, Curitiba, Florianópolis , Belo Horizonte, Brasilia, Salvador and Recife.
