Promoting a metal album with specific electronic experiments, the musician performs this Thursday (23) in a sold-out performance at Audio
The first authorial tour of Lvcasmusician also known for his work as Lucas’ futility in the creation of digital content. Album promotion Humanly (2024), the singer and multi-instrumentalist performs at Audio, a music venue in Sao Paulo, at 9pm this Thursday (23rd). Tickets are sold out.
Accompanied by Isadora Sartor on the guitar, Marcelo Braga (also producer of Humanly) on the bass, Gabriel Bruce on drums and DJ Ronan TarregaLvcas has prepared a performance that essentially consists of the entire performance of his album, although not necessarily in the same order as tracks or patterns recorded in the studio. In an interview with Rolling Stone Brazil (the full video will be published soon), the musician admits that he has high expectations in presenting his new show to the public.
“It’s something different from what I’ve done before, in my other experiences [a turnê de releituras Minha Playlist de Funk]which was basically my only tour and big shows. Now it is totally different, both in structure, content and proposal.”
In stylistic terms, Humanly His main inspiration is alternative metal inclined towards metalcore, but there is no shortage of hints of trap, hip hop, pop, hardcore and djent. In the lyrical field, the songs reflect on the typical dilemmas of human beings, especially in the field of feelings. Lvcas believes he has found a good balance of themes that are personal, yet generate enough identification that the material doesn’t feel so introspective and works live.
“I really enjoy shows, both going to them and doing them. It’s a very strong explosion of inspiration, capable of changing someone’s life. I’m still in the embryonic stage as a composer, but I’ve tried to find a balance in each song: that one works live and it’s also more personal. These are personal themes, but I think that’s how you fascinate people, because it generates identification.”
On the other hand, the artist promises chaotic moments during his performance. To the point that it’s not a good idea to take out your phone to film.
“I want people to care about the integrity of their cell phone in the first song, like, ‘bro, put this shit in your pocket and zip it up, ’cause otherwise someone’s going home happier and the other person’s going home happier sad”. ‘.”
In assembling his backing band — which, with the exception of Braga’s co-production, does not participate in the album — Lvcas looked for multifaceted members. Bruce, for example, is a jazz drummer, but he also plays heavy music. Sartor, in turn, is a producer as well as a guitarist and has a lot of experience in staging shows. Already mentioned, Braga does not have bass as his main instrument, as he is the singer of another band, Odeonbut he knows the repertoire and, obviously, he knows how to play. Finally, Ronan almost works as an element of surprise, as the presence of DJs in metal is only more common in more specific subgenres like nu metal. The project manager comments:
“We needed a guy who could scratch, because in my songs you can play a lot with electronic elements, but we couldn’t find one. I went to do a job with a company and the producer said: ‘look at this guy here” So we found a guy [Ronan] who is the world scratch champion [vencedor do Kardo Award 2023]. In the invitation I said, ‘I know this is going to sound a little crazy, but here’s a project, do you want it?’. He said, ‘let’s go’.”
In addition to Sao Paulo, Porto Alegre will welcome the musician for a performance on March 29. It will be at Bar Opinião and tickets are already on sale on the site Sympla. More shows are expected to be announced for the year. Follow the profile @lvcasmusic on Instagram for updates.
