Patti Smith He decided to cancel the second of his two shows at the Artistic Culture Theater, in São Paulo, this Thursday (30). The singer suffered a fainting in the stage in the first performance, on Wednesday (29).

It is with great sadness that we decided to cancel tonight’s presentation at the Artistic Culture Theater.
Patti is recovering well, but our attentive doctors say she needs a little more time to be at her best.

We can barely wait to return to São Paulo as soon as possible.

Hours earlier, the artist even said, in a note published in the Instagramwho feels good and would keep the event. He also pointed out that an “exaggerated account is being spread throughout the press and social networks.” She stated:
“I had a little post-musk dizziness. I had a small incident, left the stage, came back 10 minutes later, spoke to the audience, said I was fine and sang to them ‘Wing’ and ‘BECAUSE THE NIGHT’. ”
Faint in Show
As reported, Patti Smith fainted in the middle of the Artistic Culture Theater, in São Paulo, on the night of last Wednesday (29). The singer, scheduled to perform at the same place on Thursday (30), had to leave the stage in a wheelchair.
According to Folha de S. Pauloabout 30 minutes of the show passed when the 78-year-old fell to the floor. She read a text about global warming when she felt bad. He remained there for a few minutes-for it was thought that this moment would be part of his interpretation-until he received help, being taken from the stage.
The return, in a wheelchair, was approximately 10 minutes after leaving. Patti cried when he regrets the situation and saying that, because he was sick, he would need to cancel the presentation. So, sang the songs “Wing” and“BECAUSE THE NIGHT” as a farewell before it is definitive.

In December 2023, Smith had to be admitted to Bologna, Italy, where he would perform. The show had to be canceled. The artist suffered a sudden illness due to a sudden change in blood pressure. Other details were not shared at the time.

Patti Smith’s performances at the Artistic Culture Theater, reopened in São Paulo last August after a fire in 2008, occur with the collective Soundwalk Collective. This is a partnership with the photographer Robert Mapplethorpe.
