Queen’s musician revealed that he felt afraid of losing movement from one arms and no longer being able to play guitar – something that made his whole life
Brian May suffered a health emergency in 2024. The guitarist of the Queen He was a victim of what is informally called “Mini-AVC”.
It is a transient ischemic attack (AIT), a brief episode of neurological dysfunction caused by an interruption of blood irrigation in the brain, spinal cord or retinal, without tissue death. Although not considered a high severity problem, it is an important warning that requires medical assessment – and, in May, has compromised his left arm for a while.
In an interview with Gitarist (via NME), the 77 -year -old musician vented about the feeling of dealing with an AIT. He admitted to being afraid of never recovering the movement of the member in question and, consequently, not playing guitar again – something he has done throughout his lifetime.
May said the episode occurred “Out of nowhere, suddenly” and left him unable to control his left arm. Then he stressed:
“It went through my head the possibility of never playing guitar again. When suddenly I couldn’t control my left arm, it was very scary. I had no idea what was happening. ”
His doctor was able to point out the health problem only from a telephone call. He asked Brian to talk to the emergency service and to go to the ambulance hospital. Despite the fears, he noticed something important that made him a little quieter:
“Even at the worst moment, although I couldn’t control my arm, I could control my fingers. So I thought: It’s likely that I’m not really in danger. ”
Finally, the Queen guitarist revealed to feel good at the moment. “I’m just taking it light”guaranteed.

Brian May’s recovery
Brian May revealed in September that he suffered AIT. Months later, his wife, the actress Anita DobsonHe said the guitarist dealt with some challenges in his recovery, but managed to recover the movements of his left arm.
Already this year, in an interview with The sunIt was revealed that the couple contracted a strong flu, which only made things difficult for the musician. Nevertheless, she stressed that her husband is “stable” and highlighted: health problems can affect anyone, regardless of age.

May knows that. In 2020, the early year of the Covid-19 pandemic, the artist felt severe chest pain while gardening. He found to have suffered a heart attack caused by three congested arteries. Fortunately, it also recovered from this problem, to the point of having done a tour with the project Queen + Adam Lambert at the beginning of last year. There are no new confirmed shows.
