Music sad side of young people enjoy guns n ‘roses, according to Duff McKagan

Bassist celebrates renewal of the audience of his band, but points discomfort for younger groups not having gained similar notoriety

Few bands have managed to stay as worshiped over time as the Guns n ‘Roses. The work is short: five unpublished albums and one of covers in four decades of existence – most of them came between 1987 and 1993. Still, there was successive public renewal, to the point that the group still fills arenas and stadiums wherever it goes.

DUFF MCKAGAN It has mixed opinions about it. On the one hand, the bassist is happy that his band sounds so attractive to a large audience. On the other hand, it bothers a little that younger groups did not take his place and his colleagues.

In an interview of 2023 for the Classic Rock (via Igor Miranda website), McKagan shared his reflection on the subject. He said:

“I see young people going to the Guns show and I think, ‘Dude, it’s cool to come to see us, but there should be a band of members with about 21 or 22 years you are very excited.”

Following, McKagan was aware that older bands had a different force. It is something that even transcends the music itself.

“I don’t know if the impact of another band will be the same as ours. But I hope it is. ”
