Adriana Smith moans, who was related to Steven Adler at the time, were eternalized in the track that ends the album Appetite for Destruction
One of the most popular records in rock history brings a moment that reproduces the meme “Snack in the friend’s house and his wife was delicious”. In “Rocket Queen”final track of the debut album of Guns n ‘Roses, APPETITE FOR DESTRATION (1987), it is possible to hear real moans from a woman who practiced sex with the vocalist Axl Rose – And the girl in question was the drummer’s girlfriend Steven Adler.
The protagonist of this passage is called Adriana Smith and worked as a stripper in those times. It was not a conventional and closed relationship, so Adler guarantees that he did not care.
The curious recording took place at MediaSour Studios in New York, United States. Initially, Rose made the proposal and Smith accepted “for the band and a bottle of Jack Daniel’s.” Steve Thompsonone of the record engineers responsible for the album, revealed that he registered approximately 30 minutes of “sexual noises”, at the request of Axl, who wanted “some pornographic sounds” in “Rocket Queen”.

The studio professional who was really in charge of the recording was the assistant VIC DEYGLIOsince the holder, Michael BarbieroI did not want to participate. Deyglio even had to enter the capture cabin to fix a microphone in which Axl and Adriana bumped into. We hope no fluid has splashed in it.
What Steven Adler says
As said, Steven Adler did not care about the situation. In an interview of 2010 to Classic Rockhe states:
“Oh, that was just an old girlfriend, a stripper (laughs). We had about eight or nine strippers who were part of our little clan. It just happened that she was one of the ones I was getting at the time. I didn’t care about Axl F#Der with her. Of course. He was doing this for the band. That’s f#da. ”
Adler also pointed out that this case represents what Guns N ‘Roses was in those days. According to the drummer, the songs of APPETITE FOR DESTRATION As a whole reflect what they lived – including strippers involvement, which, he said, saved the band several times.
“The songs brought everything we lived. They were part of our lives. We were just five of us, our crazy friends and our insane experiences. You are living on the streets, you have nothing … Thank God, we had the strippers! Because strippers make a lot of money. If you have seven or eight of them by your side, it’s a lot of money. They wanted to take care of us, rockers. ”

Adriana Smith’s side
Perhaps Steven Adler’s view of the case has softened over the years. In an interview with Rolling Stone USAIn 2007, Adriana Smith herself said the then boyfriend “freaked out” when discovering the situation.
On the other hand, the former Stripper assured that she would make any request from Axl Rose at that time. In her words, “he was magical.”
At one point in life, however, he beat regret. The story became well known, as Appetite for Destruction would be consecrated as one of the best selling albums at all times. As a reflection, Adriana said she spent years abusing alcohol and drugs because of this recording. “I felt this extreme shame and guilt and everything else”he said.
Other people besides Axl Rose?
Interestingly, there is evidence that Axl Rose and Adriana Smith were not the only ones to participate in the sexual session of “Rocket Queen”. Mike Clinkproducer of appetitis for destruction, reported to the book Watch You Bleed: The Saga of Guns N ‘Rosesby Stephen Davis, who other members of the band had sex with the former Sleep at that time.
“The guys were taking turns that girl in the studio. Those sounds are real sex, captured live on tape. ”
Already a former employee of the label Geffenwho preferred not to be identified, says that Rose had sex with two other or three women in that recording. The reason? I was not satisfied with the results.
Folklore apart, “Rocket Queen” It became one of the favorite “sides B” of Guns N ‘Roses fans. Although it has never been released as a single of APPETITE FOR DESTRATIONthe track accumulates 85 million reproductions in Spotify. According to the database available on the site Setlist.fmthe song was executed live 691 times, occupying the 12th position among the most remembered at the shows. And it is worth noting: on the stage, they do not reproduce any moans.
