The businessman denies that the first rock in Rio favored the international artists: “Curated with respect”

One of the most relevant entrepreneurs in Brazil in the field of shows and festivals, Luiz Oscar Niemeyer, detailed some details behind the scenes of the former Rock in Rio. Luiz recognized that some Brazilian artists at the time criticized the Festival for presumably favored the international singers. But he denied that this really happened.

“Everyone was treated with great respect, as it must be,” said the businessman in an interview with Clemente Magalhães. The interview was conducted four years ago, but the podcast made a cut of extraordinary interviews.

At the time of the first edition of the Festival, Brazilian singers said that the internationals would receive phases and equipment with better sound quality.

At Podcast, Luiz said that the first rock in Rio had “what was more modern in terms of technology”. “I think our technicians were not ready to face here. Maybe, in reality, there was this delay on how to use the equipment. But at no time there has been no reduction in the importance of Brazilian artists”, has said.

The Festival turned 40 last year with names of names such as Lulu Santos, Ed Sheeran, Katy Perry, Chitãozinho and Xororó, Ney Matogrosso and Mariah Carey. The first edition, in 1985, presented historical shows of names such as Ney, Lulu, Baron Vermelho, Gilberto Gil, AC/DC and Queen.
