The shots against porridge and the recovery

Porridge was shot on September 2, 2023, while in a car with a friend in Paraty (RJ). One of the bullets hit the left side of his head, crossing the brain and leaving the body. The region responsible for speech, vision and motor coordination was affected. The following month, a suspect for the shooting was arrested in a residence in rural Taubaté (SP).

Last July, the musician underwent cranioplasty to recover the protective function of the skull. He had been discharged in October and continued his treatment at a rehab clinic.

In a March 2024 interview with Ticaracaticast (via Igor Miranda website), the vocalist and guitarist Roger Moreirawho worked with porridge since 1999 – after passages by the bassist for Basement rats, Innocent and Dry eye -, told how the musical partner was at that moment. According to him, there was still no certainty if the colleague understood what other people told him.

“We really don’t know if he understands. There are moments that you say, ‘Oh, he’s understanding!’ You say you leave and he cries, and also when she sees videos of him playing. We don’t really know if he understands, or if he understands all the time, if he doesn’t understand anything, if he doesn’t know what’s going on, because he doesn’t speak and gives no sign for now. ”
