Tenacious D actor and musician selected old feature films, bringing both classics and unknown works to the list
Jack Black He gained fame in the entertainment industry for being a multifaceted artist. In some of his cinematic works, the star managed to align performance and music, as in the classic Rock school (2003) and TENACIOUS D – A Infernal Duo (2006). Since the 1990s, he performs with the band TENACIOUS Dnext to Kyle Gass.
In an interview with Entertainment Weeklythe singer and actor was invited to choose the five best films they dealt with about music. The list brings old feature films, including well -known works.
1) Yellow Submarine (1968)
“I loved it because of visual art. I love a good hand -drawn animation, and I had a supercreative psychedelic animation – that giant hand, the Blue Meanies. It makes me excited and happy – so happy that I want to vomit. The song wasn’t bad either … those were really the voices of the Beatles there, or they only got imitations from Beatles for that? Because if they are imitations of the Beatles, I remove what I said. ”
2) This is spinal Tap (1984)
“I mean, it’s so obvious that I shouldn’t even say that. No, I won’t say that. I won’t say Spinal tap… Yes I will! This is the gold standard. Forget the musical comedy – this is what all comedians point out as the great ‘that was that?’ It’s not just a comedy – it’s historical. They are so funny, they changed the comedy. And the songs were so smart. ”
3) Footloose – Crazy Rhythm (1984)
“It’s very cool because it’s tacky. Even with the Breguices and Cliches, it’s possible to find good things. Cafonice is there and part of it, but that doesn’t make it bad.”
4) The Wizard of Oz (1939)
“It’s one of the biggest attractions for the public of all time. Not just for the gay audience.”
5) The Point (1971)
“I saw [na TV] when I was a child. It’s all about this little boy who didn’t have a tip on his head, all the people on the land of the tip had a pointed head and he didn’t fit, was banned to the forest without a tip where he had an amazing adventure and learned very important lessons about the universe. I like lessons about the universe … very stoned. Things done for children end up being the most stall of all. The Point fits this category. You definitely want to watch it stoned. ”
