RS: Today you perform at Lollapalooza. What are your expectations and what did you prepare for the festival?
Bruno Martini: I am really happy. This is the first time I participate in Lollapalooza. In my career I had the opportunity to participate in various festivals around the world. EDC Las Vegas, Tomorrowland In Belgium, EDC Mexicoanyway. The missing Lollait was always a festival I wanted to play. It’s very special for me, especially with this amazing line-up with Justin Timberlake, Rüfüs du Sola super cool crowd.
So I prepared a very, very special show, with great affection and dedication. I will debut my new tour, Mixtapein that Lolla. People will be very happy and you can be sure it will be a very cool show. I see you there.
RS: How is you to perform at a festival that is not exactly focused on electronic music?
Bruno Martini: Electronic music had a super commercial boom and mainstream a few years ago until it arrive today, when it is very present in people’s daily lives. The music itself “Hear Me Now”that I did with the Alok and with the Zeebabecame the song made PORO BRAZILIAN MORE STREAMS in the Spotify. So, as much as it is not a festival focused on the genre, I think the electronics has already punctured this narrative. So much Lolla He made a stage focused only on electronic music that is always full. This year will be no different.
RS: You have heavy collaborations with Brazilian artists such as the aforementioned Alok and Zeeba, as well as international artists such as Timbaland, Zedd and many others. What do these partnerships mean to you?
Bruno Martini: It is very special. I came from the cradle of musician, my father [Gino Martini] has a band that calls Double you with the William [Naraine] And they have been together since 1992, when I was born. I have always been in love with electronic music, because when my father was part of the 90s Eurodance, I heard a lot of the genre. Many DJs attended his studio too.
Each partnership is a different story. I worked 8 years to Disney Also before, there was a project that called College 11we did some records, then made a TV series, then I made songs that became movie themes, series themes and television shows, several things I had the opportunity to participate. When I left Disneythe first song I launched was “Hear Me Now”. It was very special because it broke several paradigms. A song made in Brazil and opened doors for gender worldwide. Today we see Brazilian DJs succeed in several countries and I think this song has helped a lot in this regard.
RS: In addition to collaboration with Alok and Zeeba, what other was remarkable?
Bruno Martini: A very special for me was with Timbalandbecause his productions marked my teens a lot. I spent about 10 days with him in Los Angeles making music. I invited the Iza to sing “Bend the Knee” And we did a super cool clip. And working with him was also a watershed for me, I learned a lot. Then even I came back to the United States, took my father to meet him, it was very cool, he is a very special guy.
Another opportunity was to work with Duran Duran. I started playing guitar, so I had their dvd at home and I was trying to take the songs “Hungry Like the Wolf” and “Save a Prayer”. So being able to be with them was very special and we had a super cool contact. I was very blessed in my career because I could work with artists that I was always very fan, but each story is a story, each partnership is a partnership.
RS: In 2024 you released the single “You Will Find Me”. How did you feel the public reception?
Bruno Martini: I was very happy to finally be able to release this song. I did it for a while and it was very special. I was on a tour in the United States and I met the singer Dave Gibsonwho has worked with Calvin Harris and several other large artists. We went to the studio and the energy was very right.
He himself told me that this session changed his day, who was going through some personal problems. All flowed, I took the bass, started playing, started to record, he started singing, already wrote a part and the music was already made. Then I finished in my studio here in Sao Paulo, but the song was basically made in this energy and I was very happy to be able to put it in the world.
RS: And how are the preparations for your next album?
Bruno Martini: I am working hard, there are many very special tracks that I want to launch this year, many very cool partnerships. I just launched the Anto EP Also, which is very segmented, very alternative, really focused on electronic music.
The album is stored in seven keys, I am working very carefully, a lot of affection and I’m sure the audience will be very surprised when I launch it.
RS: You are behind the Beeside Records label in a partnership that also involves Edo Van Duijn and Rick Bonadio. What are your goals in this initiative?
Bruno Martini: I always wanted to be able to open my record label, but it took me a while until I could structure me and really be able to offer something cool for the DJs. And it was at the right time, because I paused the shows, everything, for a personal problem. I am very happy to be with the Rick and with the Edowho has been working with me for about 10 years.
The goal was to help the crowd. There are a lot of talented people coming up in electronic music, much younger people than me, making very good music, with incredible quality. And when I started, Brazil didn’t have so much opportunity in the market, we suffered to be able to release a song to have visibility in other countries. But we change this scenario, everyone looks at Brazilian music now, we are always releasing new trends. So the intention is to be able to give the opportunity to launch, to be able to help people who want to grow and everything, this is being very special. I’m very happy.
RS: How do you see the electronic music scene in Brazil today?
Bruno Martini: We climbed a lot and won a gigantic space. Every hour comes a new name that is successful worldwide and I feel that the whole world looks at Brazilian electronic music, we have become a reference and is always evolving.
It’s an amazing moment, sometimes I look back and think, ‘Heck, it was so hard for us to be able to release a song in Spinnin ‘which is a Dutch recording, or have a backing and nowadays people look at Brazil ‘. This for me is very rewarding and very special.
